Oregon Trail Series... Part III

Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls (@ Columbia River Gorge)...

This trail we did last week – it was a 17+ mile hike filled with amazing waterfalls, beautiful mountain vistas and sheer drops! It was awesome! I definitely recommend this hike. Nothing too difficult about it, except for the “vertigo mile” where the trails 1600 ft elevation gain takes place in about a mile – other than that, the only difficult part of the trail was the length. Its normally about 15 miles to Tunnel Falls (pictures below), but we waked a mile further to see more waterfalls! :)

Unfortunately, during one of our stops to play around in the water and cool off before pressing on, I totally lost my footing and wound up completely submerged in the creak. Needless to say, my camera never fully recovered. But, it’s a small price to pay for being able to experience nature at its finest! I absolutely love this place! Portland is giving San Diego a run for the money! Haha.

Anyway, in the interest of time, and because I had to cancel my weekend adventures today so I could work, I am going to let the pictures explain themselves… bottom line, in case I haven’t said it enough, this place is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

(so, because my camera is broken, these are the pictures that I stole from my friends)… ENJOY!

San Juans for the 4th!

Wow, so this holiday weekend FLEW by! Possibly because we spent so much time traveling to and from our destination... or possibly because we had a LOT of fun - probably a combo of the two! I'm going to let the pictures do the talking for this blog, but the premise of this weekend's adventure involved a 6-hour drive up North to the San Juan string of Islands along the Washington Coast (bordering Canada), lots of kayaking, hiking, and random fun in the small town of Orcas (named after a person not the whale). Good times with some good new friends.

Cannon Beach

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE the ocean!! It's official... I have absolutely got to live by the coast. So, we can now add another criteria to my job search post Thunderbird: 1) NOT Arizona and 2) by the ocean. haha.

Anyway, I was fortunate enough to have Thursday off in addition to the 4th, so while all my friends were stuck at work, I snuck away for some R&R at a beautiful beach in Northwest Oregon - Cannon Beach. Cannon beach is famous for the giant monoliths dotting the coastline - and most known for the big one - (third largest in the world actually - 72meters), known as Haystack Rock....

THANK YOU

Support the troops – these guys/gals are overseas fighting for our country. Even though you might not agree with the cause, the troops need support. So, a message to them: THANK YOU! You are brave, you are heroes. THANK YOU for all that you do.
