My Costa Rican family (familia tica), is wonderful, so I thought I’d devote a few sentences to them so you could learn a bit more about them!

Every night while Christina and I eat dinner, the mom and dad sit down and have coffee or tea and their bread with butter and assortment of jams. Costa Ricans do not eat dinner, so around 8pm they have their pan dulce snacks with coffee. Everyone is so busy, that I have yet to see everyone in the house at the same time! There’s always someone coming or going. The family lives three houses down from the mom’s sister, and across the street from her brother. So again, there’s always some sort of little get together going on. Maria, (mami), runs the roost. She dictates orders and everyone including Papi jumps! Next, Jarod is a chemical engineer and speaks English very well, but of course Mami says no English in the house, so we are always speaking Spanish… but that’s good. I didn’t come to Central America to speak English.

Johan works two jobs and goes to school, and Sharon works, goes to school, and has a baby to take care of! They other day we watched 007 the new James Bond movie in Spanish. Thank god most of the movie is action and less talking!
